This published article is a completion of collections of testimonies and oral transmissions about the Abenaki guides of Odanak who guided the rich Americans in their hunting hobby through the forest, mainly that of Mauricie.

Dr. Réjean OBomsawin, author, historian and museologist, and Alice Nash of Columbia University (USA) talk about this "guide" tradition that ceased in the 1970s.

Recherches amérindiennes is an international scientific journal in French.
